Marine 2nd Edition Sprue

£700.00

Second Edition Marine on the Sprue This original pop art painting is inspired by the nostalgic world of miniature wargaming and oldhammer. The artwork captures a retro sci-fi 2nd edition  marine miniature figure exactly as many hobbyists first encounter it, still attached to the plastic sprue, waiting to be clipped, assembled, and painted. The painting depicts the marine painted in acrylic SoFlat paint, still on the sprue. In the background is the classic green cutting mat that we all used when building and painting these miniatures.

WHAT INSPIRED ME

Second Edition Marine on the Sprue

This original pop art painting is inspired by the nostalgic world of miniature wargaming and oldhammer.

The sprue represents the beginning of the creative journey. Before the painting, before the battles, and before the stories unfold on the tabletop, every miniature starts as raw plastic filled with potential. This painting celebrates that moment of anticipation familiar to generations of gamers and model painters. The 2nd Edition Marine was my first, and along with the Orks and Gretchin that came with the second edition, it was simply the best.

The painting transforms a simple gaming component into an artwork that celebrates the culture of miniature painting, tabletop gaming, and wargaming. It is both a tribute to the hobby and a nostalgic nod to the golden era of plastic tabletop miniatures.
