wildflower
'Wildflower' Mural painted at The Cheltenham Paint Festival 2024.
She's the one who watches over us.
Another incredible weekend painting at the Cheltenham Paint Festival for what I think is the fifth time. This event is always a highlight of my year and continues to shine as one of the most inspiring street art festivals in the UK. A massive thank you to Andy and his team, and all the volunteers who worked tirelessly to bring this amazing celebration of murals and street art to life.
This year, I created Wildflower—a mural that captures the essence of unpredictability and strength. She’s the one who’s always looking over her shoulder, keeping an eye on all of us, and pulling us through.
I stepped out of my comfort zone for this piece, ditching stencils for a more organic approach. It was both liberating and nerve-wracking, but in the end, I embraced the challenge (and used a lot more tape!). The movement in her wild hair is my personal favorite element, creating a sense of life and energy that contrasts beautifully with the broken, flaking board I painted on.
This juxtaposition—the polished pop art style against the decaying urban backdrop—creates an unsettling dynamic. It speaks to the core of street art: finding beauty and meaning in unexpected places.
A huge thanks again to the Cheltenham Paint Festival for giving artists a platform to transform the city with stunning murals and street art. I can’t wait to return for more!
