My pop art painting of the one and only Elton John, a true tribute to his iconic “Rocket Man” persona. In this piece, I wanted to capture the extravagant nature of Elton’s presence while stripping away the usual color that surrounds him, focusing instead on his artistry and the essence of his performance. Using shades of grey, I aimed to emphasize the power and energy behind his music rather than the vibrant hues he’s often associated with.

The painting portrays a still, poised Elton John, seated at his grand piano, dressed in his signature over-the-top striped clothes (which, by the way, took me ages to paint!). His flamboyant style contrasts sharply with the classic piano, creating a striking juxtaposition between his extravagant persona and the timeless, sophisticated instrument. The background features a cosmic skyline of stars, glimmering and expansive, suggesting the vast, uncharted territories of space that the “Rocket Man” has already explored, or will one day live in.
