ABOUT THE PAINTING

WHAT INSPIRED ME

Caprica Six is one of the most dynamic, beautiful, and mysterious characters from Battlestar Galactica, and not to paint her would’ve been a crime. As a fan of one of the greatest shows ever made, I wanted to capture her grace, elegance, and complexity in a mixed media painting that reflects the mesmerizing depth of her character.

Using a combination of spray paint, acrylic, inks, and splashes and drips of paint, I brought Caprica Six to life in a pop art style that contrasts her poise and stillness with the madness and chaos that surrounds her, much like how I felt watching the show. The twists, the turns, the unforgettable episodes, particularly the Dylan episode, which left me breathless, were my inspiration. While Starbuck is my favorite character, Caprica Six is, for me, a walking work of art, a living statue of beauty and grace amid the tumult of the series.

I wanted this painting to reflect the tension of the show, her calm and composed demeanor set against the madness of the world she inhabits. The chaotic splatters of paint represent the whirlwind of emotions and turmoil that swirl around her, while her presence remains unshaken.

And the ultimate honor? Tricia Helfer, the actress who portrayed Caprica Six, absolutely loved the painting, which meant the world to me.
