But... I LOVE YOU
'But I Love You' Street Art in Bristol, 2022
The Outside Gallery Project with The Tobacco Factory
Another incredible paint jam took place, updating the Tobacco Factory’s outdoor gallery, unfortunately, for the last time, as it was removed the following year. This time, I wasn’t involved in organising the event, which meant I could simply show up and paint. While it was nice to focus solely on my artwork, I did miss the energy and camaraderie that comes with organising and collaborating with fellow artists.
For this session, I created But… I Love You, a bittersweet painting that explores the vulnerable side of a powerful woman. The artwork captures a moment of heartbreak, her expression is sad and wistful as someone she loves walks away. She calls out, “But… I love you,” a sentiment that goes unheard. I wanted to highlight that no matter how strong we are, love can still be lost, and unlike in the movies, sometimes it never returns.
