NICE DAY
'Have A Nice Day' mural celebrating south Bristol art with Bristol Arts District.
A Rainy Day Paint.
The Bristol Arts District hosted a street festival to celebrate the arts in South Bristol, and I was invited to paint alongside talented artists like Sophie Long, Shade One, and the iconic Bristol legend, Cheo.
The event started with high energy and excitement as we filled the streets with colour. But soon, the rain came pouring down, first a drizzle, then a deluge. It rained, rained, and rained some more, to the point where it actually became funny. Most of our artwork was washed away,
For my contribution, I painted “Have A Nice Day”, a piece inspired by the powerful online presenter Jane Douglas, who represents strong women in the digital space. The artwork also included a nod to pop culture with Michelangelo’s banana. The phrase “Have A Nice Day” wasn’t intended to be cheery but rather delivered with the grit and sarcasm of Clint Eastwood. Unfortunately, the relentless rain meant the test was never added..
I couldn’t help but smile at the absurdity of it all. Despite the wet chaos, it was a truly a great experience celebrating art.
