This spray paint artwork is a harsh yet truthful commentary on how social media has turned into a digital addiction. It started as a tool for connection but quickly evolved into a machine that fuels ego, shallowness, and sensationalism, all dictated by an algorithm that thrives on engagement, not authenticity. As an artist, I’ve felt it myself, watching a piece get fewer “likes” than expected can be disheartening. But the reality is, it’s all rubbish, a game designed to keep us chasing numbers instead of real impact.
The painting itself is a stark visual metaphor: a skull impaled by the ultimate symbol of modern society’s grip, Facebook. The F-shaped spike pierces through the head, a warning that we are willingly hoisting ourselves onto our own digital petard.
Dark, bold, and unapologetically critical, “Like Me” is a satire painting I hope asks the uncomfortable question: Are we engaging, or are we being controlled?
