RAGE MAKES ME FEEL PRETTY
RAGE AT UPFEST 2026 | BRISTOL | WILLWAY YARD
STREET ART IN THE SUN
Rage Makes Me Feel Pretty – Upfest 2026, Bristol Street Art Mural
I was incredibly lucky to be invited to paint a mural at Upfest 2026, Europe’s largest street art festival, and to say I was excited would be a huge understatement.
My wall was located at Willway Yard in South Bristol, a fantastic community built around shipping containers that house a collection of independent local businesses. It provided the perfect backdrop for a weekend celebrating creativity, urban culture, and public art.
For this piece, I painted “Rage Makes Me Feel Pretty” – a bold and unapologetic statement about power, emotion, and the expectations often placed on women. Too often women are told not to be angry, passionate, or outspoken because it somehow makes them appear “unattractive” or “difficult.” It’s a criticism I have heard directed at my sister many times over the years. The idea of dismissing genuine emotion with an underhand insult is something many men rarely experience, making it an important conversation to bring into public spaces through art.
Created in the blistering Bristol sunshine (a rare sight in the UK!), the mural combined my signature stencil techniques with layers of spray paint and acrylic. To complete the comic-book inspired speech bubble, I even broke out an SDS drill to attach the final elements to the wall.
It was a brilliant weekend filled with amazing artists, inspiring conversations, and some of the best street art in the country. The mural became one of my favourite pieces of the year, and I feel incredibly grateful to have been part of such an iconic Bristol event.
A great weekend, a great painting, and a great location. Here’s hoping the art gods invite me back to paint at Upfest again.
