ABOUT THE PAINTING

WHAT INSPIRED ME

HeroQuest Barbarian: Original Pop Art Painting Inspired by a Childhood Classic. HeroQuest was such an important part of my childhood, my first step into the world of fantasy and gaming. It opened the door to Lord of the Rings, Warhammer, and Dungeons & Dragons, while also sparking my lifelong love for art and painting… First up the man of muscle, no silly magic, Barbarian.

I wanted to pay tribute to that childhood wonder with a collection of original pop art paintings inspired by the iconic HeroQuest miniatures. These fantasy art pieces re-imagine the beautifully sculpted figures in bold, vibrant pop art style, celebrating the nostalgia of classic tabletop gaming while bringing a modern artistic twist to the characters we all loved.

Each painting combines retro gaming memories with contemporary pop art aesthetics, turning beloved HeroQuest characters into pop art. From the fearless heroes to the menacing monsters, every figure is captured in an original painting that I hope blends childhood memories, and the unmistakable charm of this legendary fantasy board game.

This series is more than fan art, it’s a heartfelt homage to the nostalgia of the 80s and 90s gaming era, a fusion of art and storytelling that keeps the magic of HeroQuest alive for me and you.
