I WISH I LIVED IN BRISTOL
"I Wish I Lived in Bristol" A Street Art Paint Jam at the Tobacco Factory
A love letter to Bristol and pop art.
I organised another paint jam at the Tobacco Factory during the South Bank Arts Trail, which I also coordinated, making for an incredibly busy weekend! For this event, we created an “outside gallery,” blending exhibition and street art in exciting way. The concept was simple: we used a Paul Monster background as the base and added individual paintings to create the feel of a gallery wall, but outdoors. It was a cool way to bring a art gallery to the streets.
For the jam, I invited three of my favorite artists: Clare Hoops, Wolfskull Jack, and Massive Face. With Clare and my pop colors alongside Wolf and Massive Face’s darker, gothic styles, we created an installation that I was incredibly proud of. The mix of styles worked beautifully.
My piece was a love letter to Bristol and pop art. I painted a classic pop art-inspired woman with a tear in her eye, a thought bubble coming out of her head saying, “I wish I lived in Bristol.” It was a bit funny, a bit true, and a playful nod to the endless clickbait articles claiming Bristol is the “best place to live.” (Guilty as charged for chasing those views, too!)
I absolutely LOVE this painting, it holds a special place in my heart. ❤️
